The Cattaraugus County, New York surrogate boxes contain wills, estates and guardianship records that detail an estate or legacy from 1807 to present.

We have gone through the first 70 boxes, which are only guardianship records, containing over 7,000 names.   These records cover the time period 1807 to 1913.

Guardianship records contain information not necessarily found elsewhere.   Often times, people from other counties and other states can be named in these records. 

If you would like an abstract of one of these files, the charge is $5 per file.   If you would like copies of the original file itself, the charge is $15 per file, up to 20 pages.   Additional pages are charged at our cost.

After searching our Surname List, feel free to contact us with questions.  If you are looking for surrogate or probate papers for someone who is not listed in the Surname List, contact us so we can do a search for you.  We have indexed the first of 70 boxes, which is approximately 10% of the total number of boxes.
